About Me

My name is Len VanProoyen and I started Design Home Cinema, LLC in 2004 as a way to pursue my passion of creating comfortable and luxurious spaces with top notch audio and video products. I’ve always had a passion for “home theater” and even as a kid I remember the thoughts of how cool it would be to see something like the film “2001 Space Odyssey” at home. This was long before consumer video tapes even existed!

Design Home Cinema was founded from this passion. The spectacle of a big screen movie theater experience in your favorite place has thrilled me to no end. Finally in 1992, (after years of being a weekly visiting, rarely purchasing, probably annoying customer with endless questions to the couple of sales guys that were always willing to chat with me at the coolest store in the world…Classic Stereo in Grand Rapids!) I got my first front projector and have not looked back since!!

I pride myself on being a family man first, with a wonderful wife and two amazing daughters, settling into our 30th year in the East Grand Rapids community. We are also very passionate dog owners and have completed our first service training effort with the most excellent organization “Paws With A Cause”. You may spot a picture of Ziggy somewhere in this website!
